The official presentation of the Food Drink Bulgaria Association to journalists took place in the Serdika Hall of Sofia Grand Hotel Sofia. The press conference was attended by representatives of leading Bulgarian media - BTA, BNR, BGNES, Dnevnik, Darik Radio and others.
In addition, the news that eleven of the biggest companies in the food and drink industry in Bulgaria unite their efforts create a branch association Food and drink Bulgaria was covered by over 70 printed and electronic media. These companies include Danon Serdika, Devin, Coca-Cola Bulgaria, Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Bulgaria, Quadrant Beverages, Mars Incorporated Bulgaria, Mondelize Bulgaria, Nestle Bulgaria, Prestige- 96, Jacobs Douwe Egberts Bulgaria.
The press conference was attended by Mrs. Svetla Lesova, Chairman of the Managing Board of the Association, Mrs. Iana Ivanova, Executive Director, Representatives of Founding Companies. Special guest was Mrs. Mella Frewen, general director of the FoodDrinkEurope Association.
"The main objectives of the Association are complete transparency and creating a more favorable environment for the development of the food and drink industry in Bulgaria by uniting and representing the interests of Bulgarian and foreign producers, distributors and importers of food and drink" –said Svetla Lesova, Chairman of the Board of Food Drink Bulgaria Association.
The need for such an association has become more and more pronounced in recent years when a number of issues such as nutrition and health, food quality standards and consumer awareness have been raised on the public agenda.
"We all, as responsible companies, have placed the focus of our attention on the consumer's interest. Today, more than ever, consumers are interested in the food they consume and we believe it is important for society to be able to follow a constructive dialogue between businesses and institutions on all topics. Our expertise would help us find the right solutions, and by reinforcing self-regulation in the sector, we will prove that we are also responsible ", Mrs. Lesova said.
The founding members of the Association are expecting other members of the food and drink industry to join them in the near future so that they can unite in creating the regulatory framework that directly affects their development.
"We want to involve companies from all sectors of industry - dairy, meat procesing industry, bakery, confectioners, and soft drinks producers.”- stressed Iana Ivanova, Executive Director of the Food Drink Bulgaria Association.
