On April 11, 2022, the PLASTIC PACT Bulgaria initiative was officially presented. It unites branch organizations, companies and state institutions in order to reduce the waste from plastic packaging and the utilization of plastic as a raw material in the circular economy of Bulgaria.

Food Drink Bulgaria Association initiated the idea of creating a Bulgarian Pact as part of a growing global network, which currently includes national and regional PlasticsPact in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, UK, Canada, Kenya, Netherlands, Poland , Portugal, USA, France, Chile and South Africa.

The founders who signed a joint declaration for the establishment of the platform are the Bulgarian Industrial Assosiation, Food Drink Bulgaria Association, Bulgarian Soft Drinks Association, the Branch Association Polymers, the Bulgarian Chamber of Chemical Industry, the Bulgarian Recovery and Recycling Association, Denkstatt Bulgaria The Association for Modern Trade and the Union of Brewers in Bulgaria.

The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Environment and Water, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth and the Ministry of Education and Science.
