In 2026 alone, funding directed toward Devin Municipality reaches EUR 145,000, with additional investment allocated to the introduction of dual education
Over the past three years, DEVIN - Bulgaria’s leading mineral and spring water company - has invested nearly EUR 265,000 to support the development of Devin Municipality and the local community.
More than EUR 120,000 of this amount has been dedicated to advancing education, culture, and sports in the town of Devin and the wider Rhodope region. Key beneficiaries include the Municipal Centre for Personal Development - Children’s Complex, the Municipal Youth Football Team, Orpheus Football Club - Devin, and Orpheus Fire and Rescue Sports Club - Smolyan. The funding supports a broad range of activities across these organisations - from dance, music and theatre programmes to training initiatives and competitive sports activities, including operational and administrative support.
Since 2024, DEVIN has also contributed a total of EUR 126,587 to Devin Municipality and Smolyan Water Utility to support improvements to the town’s infrastructure. The company additionally provides annual financial support for the celebration of Devin City Day and the Festival of Mineral Water.
As a result, DEVIN’s total contribution to the municipality in 2026 amounts to EUR 145,000 - nearly four times higher than the funding allocated in the previous year. These figures do not include the company’s in-kind donations of mineral and spring water provided throughout the year for various community initiatives.
“DEVIN places special focus on the town of Devin and the surrounding region - this is our home,” said Pepo Tonov, Chief Executive Officer of DEVIN. “Business growth and local development go hand in hand. That is why we believe our investments create lasting value for local communities and for nature. It is no coincidence that DEVIN was among the first companies in Bulgaria to become certified by the global B Corp movement, which sees business as a force for good and a driver of positive societal impact.”
DEVIN also maintains a valuable long-term partnership with A. S. Popov Vocational High School of Electronics in Devin and plays an active role in developing future talent in the region.
Since 2019, the company has supported the protected vocational programme Automation of Continuous Production Processes and has awarded scholarships to 113 students to date, with total funding exceeding EUR 18,000. Students are also offered regular internship opportunities at DEVIN’s production facility.
This year, at DEVIN’s initiative, the school is introducing a dual education programme that will enable students to build essential practical skills while still completing their secondary education.
“The dual education model combines classroom learning with hands-on experience in a real working environment under the guidance of an employer,” explained Miglena Mladenova, HR Business Partner at DEVIN. “Students aged 16 and above enrolled at A. S. Popov Vocational High School in Devin gain practical exposure aligned with their academic curriculum.”
“Young people are the future specialists and leaders every company depends on. By supporting and training young talent, we invest in fresh ideas, energy and ambition. At the same time, investing in young people drives innovation and builds long-term sustainability and competitiveness.”
Ultimately, the greatest value of the dual education model lies in developing skilled professionals who can contribute to the local economy - something particularly important for smaller towns, where creating opportunities for young people helps encourage them to build their careers and lives close to home.
