The integration of 32 hours of health education into the existing curriculum was discussed at a working meeting between teams from the Ministry of Health and nationally representative industry organizations, members of the National Food Council. The meeting was attended by Iana Stratieva, Executive Director of the Food and Drink Bulgaria Association.

The Ministry of Health will contribute expertise and help develop content on key topics such as nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and prevention. A central focus of the discussion between Associate Professor Mihail Okoliyski, Deputy Minister Professor Antonia Dimova, and the experts was children’s health and the development of sustainable healthy habits from an early age.

“The meeting is part of our efforts to take concrete steps toward introducing health education in schools. In this direction, the ministry will continue its active work in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Science, with a joint meeting planned to discuss specific solutions and next steps,” the Ministry of Health stated.
