How many enterprises produce soft drinks and bottled water in the country? How many are employed in the sector and what is the size of the output they create?
By 2022, 169 relatively large enterprises in the country are operating in the sector. There are 4273 people working in them. These account for 41% of employment in the production of all types of beverages and almost 1% of employment in manufacturing. The amount of production equals BGN 760 million and represents 38% of production in the production of all types of beverages and 1% of production in the processing industry.
A study by the Institute of Market Economy (IPI) on the contribution of the industry to the country's economy was recently published. What are the main findings of the study?
The analysis of the Institute of Market Economy for 2022 shows that the full impact of the activity of the industry "Production of soft drinks and bottled water" after taking into account both the direct effects of the costs incurred and the additional secondary effects generated along the value chain, can be estimated as the total internal demand created in the national economy in the amount of BGN 860 million. The impact of the sector increased by more than a quarter compared to the previous year, with expectations for continued increase in the effect for 2023.
The enterprises in our sector have created an added value of over 234 million BGN, which is nearly 43% of the added value in the production of all types of beverages.
