6-Year-Old Reporters Win Devin EAD and Blue Flag Bulgaria’s Eco-Code Competition

Nearly 80 eco-pledges from children and students across Bulgaria competed for the top spot in this sustainability initiative.

Eco-reports, video messages with nature conservation tips, and an environmental anthem were among the most celebrated projects by kindergarten and school children in this year’s Eco-Code Competition—part of the "Step into the Green Circle: The Future is in Our Hands" initiative by Devin EAD and the Bulgarian Blue Flag Movement. The competition encourages the creation of an Eco-Code: a set of rules for eco-friendly behavior at school, at home, in society, and in nature. Through this, children develop creative and critical thinking while fostering responsible habits toward the environment.

“Environmental education in Bulgaria is evolving at an incredible pace. We see this clearly as children of all ages from across the country join our initiatives. We are proud to be part of this change and to witness a new generation that thinks more consciously, asks questions, and seeks solutions. The projects we awarded demonstrate a high level of engagement and understanding of sustainable development. We believe these young people are the driving force behind positive change,” said Petya Manastirska, Sustainability and Quality Manager at Devin EAD.

In a highly competitive field, projects were evaluated based on the originality of the idea, depth of the eco-message, alignment with the Eco-Schools program philosophy, and quality of execution. This year, the submissions were exceptionally strong, with the top three teams delivering results that were remarkably close.
