Food and Drink Bulgaria Association will unite the interests of the food industry

The Association is a member of FoodDrinkEurope, the largest European food industry organization

05.07.2018, Sofia - Eleven of the largest companies in the food industry in Bulgaria - Danon Serdika AD, Devin EAD, Interclick Bulgaria EOOD, Coca-Cola Bulgaria EOOD, Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Bulgaria, Quadrant Beverages, Mars Incorporated Bulgaria EOOD, Mondialise Bulgaria EOOD, Nestle Bulgaria AD, Prestige-96 JSC, Jacobs Dow Eggers BG EOOD, united their efforts and established a branch association "Food and Drinks Bulgaria".

The main objective of the Association is complete transparency as well as creating a more favourable environment for the development of the food industry in Bulgaria, thus uniting and representing the interests of Bulgarian and foreign producers, distributors and importers of food and drinks. 

Just days ago, the association was accepted as a member of FoodDrinkEurope, the largest organization in Europe in the food industry. The news was personally reported by the Director-General of the organization, Mrs. Mela Frewen. FoodDrinkEurope represents the interests of its members before the European institutions on key topics such as food safety, healthy eating, environmental protection, competitiveness, consumer confidence.

According to Ms. Svetla Lesova, Chairperson of the Board of Food and Drinks Association Bulgaria, the need for such an association has become more and more pronounced in recent years when a number of issues are raised on the agenda of the public, such as proper nutrition, quality standards of food, consumer awareness.

"We all, as responsible companies, have placed the focus of our attention on the consumer's interest. Today, more than ever, consumers are interested in the food they consume and we believe it is important for society to be able to follow a constructive dialogue between businesses and institutions on all topics. Our expertise would help us find the right solutions, and by reinforcing self-regulation in the sector, we will prove that we are also responsible ", Mrs. Lesova said.

The founding members of the association are expecting other members of the food industry to join them as soon as possible so that they can join in creating the regulatory framework that directly affects their development.

 "We want to involve companies from all sectors of industry - dairy, bakers, produsers of meat products, confectioners, soft drinks producers. - stressed Iana Ivanova, Executive Director of the Food and Drinks Bulgaria Association. "We believe that together we will be able to find the most beneficial solutions to both the society and the consumers  by combining experience, efforts and willingness to work to improve Bulgaria's economic environment and well-being".
