Chocolate Svoge celebrates its 25-th birthday, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of the acquisition of the chocolate factory in Svoge by the global international company, Mondelez International. The 2019th is a year of celebrations for the company, which is planning a massive communication campaign for Svoge chocolate, as well as the production center in the city.
The Story of Chocolate
The history of one of the oldest brands of chocolates in our country is long and interesting. The factory in Svoge was officially opened in the Iskar river gorge in the distant 1924 - the location provides wonderful weather conditions and the necessary water resources to drive production and liaison with suppliers and consumers through the city's railroad. Production in the city started with a staff of 300 people who produce a variety of chocolate products. In 1947 the factory was nationalized and turned into a chocolate factory called "Republic".
At the end of 1993, the factory was bought by the international company Kraft Jacobs Sushard and in the beginning of next year many new brands are presented on the Bulgarian market, including Svoge chocolates, which to this day are present on the shelves in the shops. In 2013, the company's owner of the Svoge factory changed its name and became Mondelez.
Today
At present, more than 150 varieties of products from the company's portfolio in over 40 flavors are produced at Svoge. These products are available in 36 markets across four continents. Today, nearly 550 people are employed in the plant and the company has invested more than 106 million leva in Svoge and the region for the past 25 years. Funds are invested to support local communities, reduce their own environmental footprint on nature and optimize production processes. As a result of the investments to date, Mondelez chocolate factory in Svoge recycles up to 99% of its waste from the production process.
"It is essential for us to support local communities and build a responsible business that is part of the local eco-system and is globally and locally recognized as such. We have worked a lot and we have even more ambitious plans for the years to come, because in 2016 the plant was assigned a complex but interesting and especially important for the future of the plant project - related to the production of chocolates. Thanks to our common efforts, we have positioned the factory in Svoge as a key production center on the world map of Mondelez, "commented Anna Marinkova, director of the chocolate factory.
Chocolates Svoge will celebrate their 25th anniversary with all their consumers by the end of this year, surprising every month with various activities that mark the moments of happiness spent with the brand today and over the years.
